 Today is the  40th anniversary of Earth Day !!
- What will you do today, and going forward for Earth Day?
- Use a reusable cup instead of a throw away one use cup ?
- Take public transportation or walk rather than drive by car?

Environmental Protection Agency's WasteWise Program

I first heard of the EPA's WasteWise program from Hallmark's website where it was used to reinforce their environmental efforts.   Curious I looked for more info on the EPA website.

" ... WasteWise Endorser Program engages state and local government agencies, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to help educate their members and constituents about the benefits of reducing solid waste ... WasteWise Challenge helps members expand existing waste reduction programs and adopt new, proven strategies. Each challenge focuses on a specific material or product type."

"By pledging to the challenge, WasteWise members can receive assistance to implement waste reduction activities targeting a specific material or product type and potentially earn recognition as an environmental leader. "

Dow Launches Solar Array and Eduction Center in Midland, Michigan

Dow is a player in the green space with heat transfer fluids for thermal heating systems and BIPV (building integrated photo voltaic) roofing materials.  Now they are getting into the education game....

" ... new solar array and education center, and construction is under way at a new factory in Saginaw County to produce a key specialty gas for the solar energy industry ...The Dow Corning Corp. plant next to Hemlock Semiconductor’s polysilicon factory is expected to employ about 30 people initially, ...to be completed in 2011, it will manufacture high purity monosilane, used in the manufacture of thin-film solar cells and liquid crystal displays. ... also unveiled a new solar panel installation and solar education center at its corporate headquarters in Midland. ..."
